What is the difference between appointment booking and event types?
MakePlans supports two types of bookings: Appointments and events.
Appointments is a booking for a single customer on a specific start/end time. Such as "Haircut" on 15 April 2017 from 13:00 to 13:45. The customer can make a booking within the opening hours that are defined on the resource such as Monday-Friday 09:00 to 15:00. Each available time is a slot. By default only one customer can book a slot but it is also possible to allow more than one booking pr slot.
Events such as classes and seminars also occur at a specific start/end time but is open for booking for multiple customers. You set the maximum allowed number of attendants to ensure your event is not overbooked. Customers can then sign up for that specific event such as "Yoga" on April 12th 2020 from 19:00 to 20:30 on your booking site. Events are listed on the booking site. If you have many types of events then "Event types" is what MakePlans uses to group similar events together in a list. So you can have one event type called "Yoga" and another called "Pilates". For each event you can then specify all the settings, the event type is only to group the similar events together. Each event has its own start and end time, maximum number of attendants as well as other settings.
